PB&J Pedals Morning Brew Compressor

My buddy Philip over at PB&J Pedals keeps turning out one great pedal after the other, making some great gear and doing it pretty much on his own. We’ve reviewed his Billy Goat Fuzz, Viper Drive, Surf Drive and Sweet Clarity Jr. Overdrive, and today we’ve got the next offering from PB&J – the Morning Brew Compressor.

I like a compressor that has a good amount of controls, so you can really get the sound you want, and be able to manipulate the effect to your precise liking. The Morning Brew is one of these types of comps, with Level, Sustain, Blend and Clipping knobs for your pleasure. Level control is awesome here, as there is a good bit of boost to be had, depending how much you need to drive your signal. The Sustain control has a good range as well, from extremely subtle to in your face, but in a good way. Clipping is basically an Input gain, and can be used to tame those guitars with a little extra heat coming off of their pickups. Finally, the Blend knob is a welcome control as well, giving the user the ability to add in as much or as little of the compressed sound as they want to shine through.

The sounds these 4 controls produce are going to be a marvelous addition to any player’s rig, as the Morning Brew really lets your tone continue to shine, all the while adding that extra bit of sparkle and pizazz to your overall sound. Compressors have always been a tricky pedal to figure out for me, and this one was easy to set up and dial in some great sounds right off the bat. Great for some chicken-pickin’ licks, loads of sustain for chords and that nice, gentle sonic layer that covers everything for an outstanding blanket of tone that filters through our eardrums. Thanks again to Philip and PB&J Pedals for sending this green monster our way – it has replaced my previous compressor, so let’s see if it will stand the test of time!
