I purchased this pedal many years ago I will admit right off. At the time I just needed a boost, I had a tuner, a Sparkle Drive, and and a Line 6 dirt modeler. I didn’t know much, just wanted something to get me louder for solos. I was not disappointed. The Freq Boost is BBE’s take on a treble boost, great for getting my hot licks in the forefront.
In all seriousness, I was in a post-punk band playing a lot of bars and other than the tuner in the aforementioned list, the BBE is the only pedal remaining. I’ve always enjoyed on guitar and have even experimented with it on bass to some very cool results.
The Freq Boost can be picked up at a really reasonable price in the used market, has a simple one knob control surface, and will make you wonder why you would ever wanna turn it off.
