Chesapeake Effects Flagship Overdrive A few weeks ago, we got to review one of the coolest and most effective rehouse pedal projects we’ve ever come across: the DD-20 Rehouse by Chesapeake Effects. As it turns out, they not only do rad rehousings, but they make a pretty mean overdrive pedal as well. Let’s check out the Flagship Overdrive, shall we?

Based around the popular Marshall Blues Breaker circuit, the Flagship adds in a couple key elements to make it stand out on its own. Volume, Gain and Tone are the typical controls you see on many overdrive pedals, but this baby blue rectangle has a couple tricks up its sleeve. First, there’s more gain on tap to make this puppy give you some real crunch. Second, there’s a toggle switch added in for further tonal control. This switch allows you to pick between two diode clipping settings: the symmetrical setting is a smoother clipping sound, while the asymmetrical clips more like a screamer-type pedal.

Chesapeake Effects LogoHand built in Westminster, Maryland, the Flagship Overdrive has a lot of character, and a ton of tone. These pedals are also guaranteed for 10 years on all the mechanical and electrical components, an option not ever builder provides. This thing is buil like a tank, though, so unless you’re doing some crazy stage antics featuring sledgehammers or cement blocks, you should be just fine. Thanks again to the guys over at Chesapeake Effects for letting us check out this badass overdrive – after this and the awesome DD-20 rehouse, we cannot wait to review more of their effects for years to come.
