DC Pedals TS-777 Ultra OverdriveMost of us have played some version of the famous Tube Screamer pedal before, no matter what model number or differing shade of green it might be, with varying levels of likability. Some players swear by them, others want to toss them in the trash, but one thing remains constant: they’re well-known and not going anywhere soon. Today’s pedal, the TS-777 Ultra from DC Pedals, focuses on the TS-808, possibly the most sought-after and famous of the green monsters, but this one has an added option that the originals are sometimes criticized for lacking.

The unique gain structure in the TS-777 Ultra is the result of countless hours of carefully comparing different capacitors, resistors and clipping diodes, to keep some of the familiar tones of the classic verde pedals, but add in DC’s own voice and original tone. The Volume provides the output, Gain gives you the dirt and Tone control features a wide tonal sweep for excellent tonal variation. While these are expected and welcome, the TS-777 also has a couple of secret weapons.

First, the toggle switch provides you with three clipping options (vintage, modern and compressed) to basically give you three pedals in one. The diodes are hand-picked and hand-matched, for superior performance and sound. Second, the Opamp. The classic JRC4558 chip is installed stock, but….there’s an opamp socket installed on the PC board so you can experiment with other dual-opamps, opening up even more tonal possibilities to try.

DC Pedals LogoWith DBA Quiet True Bypass™ switching, high-quality pots, jacks and switches, and handmade, created and assembled in the USA, the folks at DC Pedals have put together an excellent screamer-type overdrive that’s filled with options and tone for days…maybe years. A classic design that’s known throughout the galaxy, the TS-777 Ultra Overdrive improves upon and opens up the possibilities for a sound that has been heard on countless recordings over the decades, and will continue to do so. Luckily, we have pedals like this one to enhance those tones, and make us push ourselves to re-invent the guitar and it’s sounds as we all move forward. Thanks to DC Pedals for sending this pristine aqua marvel to us, check their website for more tasty creations, and don’t forget to check out the demo video below!
