M.D. Effects High Tide Chorus Reverb Delay

2-in-1 pedals are fairly badass, and always welcome into the musical fold around here. Every once in a while, however, we get to check out the rare and even more fun THREE-in-1 pedal, one of which has graced us with its presence today. The High Tide from M.D. Effects is a chorus, reverb and delay all mixed together, with a boatload of options for tweaking this sonic beauty to fit literally any musical situation you may come across (well, maybe not EXACTLY literally, but pretty close).

There are three different modes you can select from on the High Tide. Mode 1, Deep Chorus, is a layered chorus paired with a large reverb. Mode 2, Mod-Delay, features a moving chorus with a modulated delay. Mode 3, 80’s Chorus, gives you an 80’s-style chorus sound paired with a classic digital delay. These modes are really the center of this pedal, and, as you can probably imagine, present an almost infinite amount of experimentation possibilities between them.

As far as the control knobs are concerned, there are 4 of ’em, and they work together to create differing soundscapes depending on which mode you’re in. Mix adjusts the Chorus and Effect levels at the same time, while Rate controls the speed of the chorus, with the range changing for each mode. Effect lets you dial in the volume level for each secondary effect, and Clarity works as a sharpness/dynamic EQ control, adding in higher frequencies as you turn it clockwise.

The Tap switch works differently for the different modes as well – in Mode 1, it changes the Reverb time, but in Modes 2 & 3, it sets the length of the Delay time. There’s even an external tap jack for your pleasure as well. 2 Inputs and 2 Mono Outputs make it easy to connect the High Tide to any setup you can throw at it, too. The Mix and Clarity control, which are analog, works seamlessly with complex digital programs to create a combination that produces beautiful, complex and creative textures with ease.

Boasting some extremely expansive chorus algorithms, gorgeous, reflective reverb tones and smooth, clear delay repeats, the High Tide is the real deal in the modulation effects world.
