Free The Tone TA-1H Tri Avatar Multi-Dimensional ChorusThe folks over in Japan at Free The Tone don’t mess around with their effects, always taking things up a notch from where we all think they might level off, surprising and delighting us along the way. Their TA-1H Tri Avatar Multi-Dimensional Chorus pedal continues this tradition by unleashing an absolute mammoth of a chorus pedal, full of all the modern, vintage, classic and yet-undiscovered sounds you could imagine, and then a couple more on top of those. Bringing together warm, analog tones with some modern digital amenities, this is one powerful machine that can take you to places far beyond your imagination…

There’s a Depth section that starts off the controls, featuring Left, Center and Right parameter knobs. These adjust the pitch vibration depth of the corresponding signal, with each appearing in their respective output terminals (Left and Right to Output L in mono operation, Right to Output R and Center to both outs in a Stereo amp setup). A Hi Cut knob allows you to dial in a range of frequencies from low to high, giving the chorus effect either a darken mood or a brighter and cleaner type of sound. Rate adjusts the speed of the pitch vibration, Level adjusts the overall effect volume and Mix blends your Wet and Dry signals together to taste.

In addition to all of these parameters, there are also FOUR presets available on the Tri Avatar, with a secondary footswitch for easily scrolling through them once they’re set to your specs. Simply place all the knobs to a sound you like, select your preset number and hold down the EDIT button for 1.5 seconds. Done! Change the settings three more times for three more different sounds, and you’ve got a flavor-filled, chorus-infused crystal ball at your feet. You can run the TA-1H in Stereo as mentioned before, plus there’s an Expression jack to control either the Rate or Hi Cut parameters with an external footswitch, and it has MIDI capabilities as well.

Not just a simple two or three-knob chorus effect pedal, the Tri Avatar truly is a multi-dimensional pedal, infusing Free The Tone’s classic analog/digital mixture to provide the warmest sounds with the latest technology, for an all-around incredible piece of gear. By utilizing three separate phases of chorus sound, along with your dry signal, you get more width and depth to the chorus effect, which can tend to be thin and tinny in some pedals. Another wonderful gem from our friends to the West, check out the demo below to get a slice of what this blue beauty can do.
