CNZ Audio Dumble OverdriveDUMBLE. If you play guitar, there’s a decent chance you’ve heard about these rare and legendary (and ridiculously expensive) amps, used by such players as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ben Harper, Ry Cooder, Lowell George and more. Fetching price tags ranging from $50,000 – 100,000 EACH, there’s also a good chance you’ve never (and will never) get to play one for yourself. Today’s pedal, the Dumble Overdrive from CNZ Audio, gives you tones that, while maybe not totally on par with those monster amps, get you into the same ballpark, for roughly the price of an entire house’s worth LESS of a cost.

Voiced to project a more meaty mid-range sound, the Dumble pedal features 4 controls and a surprising amount of tonal range. The Volume, Tone and Gain knobs do what they do on all overdrives, but this pedal adds in something more to tweak your sound. The Voice parameter lets you adjust the coloration of your tone, dialing in exact specifications to what YOU and your setup need it to sound like. Turn it left and your guitar and amp’s natural tones come shining through; turn it up to the right, and heavy, thick drive sounds come into play in a glorious way. Combining this with the three aforementioned parameters opens up a sonic vortex of possibilities in the overdrive and boost realms.

CNZ Audio LogoLike the majority of the CNZ Audio effects pedal lineup, the Dumble is extremely pedalboard friendly, nice and small in both size and price tag, as it sells for just 60 bucks (on sale right now for $45!). Pedal like these that are small and inexpensive don’t always get the best reputation, but so far, the couple pedals we’ve had from CNZ have really been impressive.
