The PettyJohn Electronics PreDrive is a pedal that refines and defines your tone. A great pedal for studio and/or live performances. The PreDrive is designed to be the first pedal in your chain preserving and improving the sound quality of any instrument plugged into it; either a guitar or a bass-guitar. It also has another function, which is a boost that gives you the extra body to your sound; again, playing live or in a studio.

Internal Uniqueness

The PreDrive has 2 unique features inside the pedal, which are the discrete op amp chips and the DI out. The discrete op amp chips are only found in microphone preamps. The guys from PettyJohn Electronics are the first to use these chips in a guitar pedal to add that high definition quality to your guitar tone similar to what they do for vocals in a microphone preamp. The DI out is designed to be connected to a TRS connection for virtual revamping or adding more articulation and presence in the overall guitar mix. Both these qualities really highlight the “studio grade” qualities this pedal possesses for the perfect tool for tone in the studio as well as live performances.

FIRST SWITCH (True Bypass)

The pedal has two foot-switch for the different functions on it. First you have the Preamp switch (the foot-switch on your right). This switch will define and refine the sound of your guitar/bass, it’ll give it more clarity and better sound. That switch will activate every single dial in the pedal except for the Boost Gain (the big knob in the middle). This Preamp switch is great for cleaner, brighter, refined sound that will definitely make the difference in your sound. Once that switch its on you can set your preferred setting using “input/output volume” and “high/low cut”. Also you have the Harmonic Drive, which works with the DriveMix knob, that will add extra warmth and harmonic saturation to your sound. It also has the Vari-Z Switch that allows you to match the impedance of the pedal to your pickups (pickups or humbucker).

SECOND SWITCH (True Bypass)

The second switch in the PreDrive will activate the boost giving you up to 11dB that will add more body to your sound. This boost switch works along with the Boost Gain knob in the middle that allows you to control the gain volume.

It has Input/Output, Tuner In & Direct Out and uses a 18volts power supply. It comes in the standard (PCB) version and the hand-wired version.
