Chase Bliss Audio Thermae Analog Delay Pitch ShifterWhere do we begin with today’s featured pedal? Just when you thought Joel and the Chase Bliss Audio team couldn’t top themselves, here comes the Thermae, an analog delay and pitch shifter to top all analog delays and pitch shifters. Capable of more out-of-this-world sounds than you’d ever think possible, this blue marvel takes playing music to another echelon, vaulting your creativity and inspiration to entirely new levels. Let’s just stop talking and check this thing out, shall we?

The Thermae uses an analog signal path, comprised of 4 re-issued version of the classic MN3005 bucket-brigade chips, which is then able to be manipulated digitally, like all Chase Bliss effects. This keeps your signal pristine and tonally superb, while still giving you so many options as to how you want to use the delay and pitch-shifting in your music. Regen will take your signal into gloriously dirty feedback, LPF (Low Pass Filter) gives you tonal choices out the yin-yang, and Glide helps control the pitch transition time from one interval to another.

The Int 1 and Int 2 controls let you choose from a plethora of pitch modes, including 4th, 5th, Octave, Octave +5th and 2 Octave. Turn these 2 knobs to OFF, and you’ve got a sweet, clear but warm delay. Turn them on, and you’ve got unlimited sonic possibilities as to where you can take the sounds created by the Thermae. You can use Slowdown mode to slow the speed of the sequence by 2x, use the lower center toggle switch to access 2 saved Presets, external Tap Tempo and MIDI capabilities, expression pedal and CV control via TRS and more. You can even hold down the Tap switch to get into “runaway” regeneration mode, for on-the-fly bursts of psychotic delay glory, all infused with pitch modulation and vintage echo tones.

We’ve got some fun settings and sounds for you in the demo video below, but this pedal is a must-own if you’re going to really unlock its potential. Every demo will sound different, as they should, but only YOU can figure out what the Thermae can do for YOU. Cheers once more to the Chase Bliss Audio team for another spectacular effects creation – we’re not sure how you’ll top this, or what sort of genre will be next on your list of genres to conquer, but while we wait in anticipation, we’re going to enjoy the hell out of the Thermae. Cheers!
