SolidGoldFX Oblivion Quad Flanger

We’ve always loved a good flanger effect – some find it overbearing and useless, but what the hell do they know? Today’s pedal takes flanging to new and exploratory heights, adding in a ton of different modulated aspects and options. The SolidGoldFX Oblivion Quad Flange(r) will unlock mind-melting tones in an instant – an otherworldly, vast sonic sea awaits…

The Oblivion brings the past, present and future together as one, ranging from epically lush, modulated movements to intense regenerating alien airwaves, lo-fi bit-crushed textural landscapes and much more. The Speed, Range and Regen controls are fairly standard, but the array of toggle switches are what make this one open up and really stand out. Three flanger modes (Classic, Thru-Zero and Bi-Flange) each have their own unique flavor, as well as a respective Degrade mode for each, which introduces more lo-fi elements into the mix. A Blend knob takes you from slight chorus overtones to full-on wild flanging in an instant, and the two footswitches’ duties include Tap Tempo, Speed Ramping and LFO Braking as well.

The three-way Wave toggle lets you select the LFO waveform: bell curve, sine wave or downward sawtooth. The 1/4-1/2-1 switch changes things up as well, offering whole, half and quarter note tap tempo multipliers. An Expression/CV jack on the back opens up even more soundscapes, allowing you to adjusts different parameters on-the-fly, and use outside 0-5V CV operation if you so desire.

Not your ordinary, everyday flanger pedal, the Oblivion Quad Flanger really steps up the modulation game, setting the bar extremely high for future flange offerings from other builders. How they manage to consistently pack so many options into these smaller-sized enclosures remains a mystery, but one that we’re more than happy to keep investigating. Cheers once more to the SolidGoldFX team on this wonderful creation – there are a lot more details on their website, so be sure to check that out. For now, though, grab a coffee or Bloddy Mary or whatever, and settle in for our demo video below, which winds through the twists and turns available out in the Oblivion…
