Stacks FX Ohms Series: Distorter of Worlds

Recently, we had the privilege to check out the Acid Cat Fuzz Distortion from our friends at Stacks FX. Part of their Ohms Series, it had a nice sonic range, going from mild crunch to all-out sonic destruction. Today, we’ve got another pedal from that Ohms Series for you – the Distorter of Worlds, another fuzz distorter that packs a myriad of options into one perfectly-sized enclosure. Lots to explore here, let’s get right to it!

With an NOS Germanium transistor at its heart, combined with op-amp, mosfet and other secret unicorn magic stages, the Distorter of Worlds provides chunky, roaring rhythms and searing leads, creating a wall of sound that’s sure to melt faces. The 3-way toggle switch selects between 3 distinct drive tones, and it has a parallel clean channel that’s independent from the Drive side, so you can use it as a pre-amp/clean boost. Cut the clean side altogether and get the most insane saturation you have possibly ever heard. Even at full tilt, it gives you endless harmonic detail that’s never undefined. This pedal responds really really well to your guitar’s volume control – with the Drive cranked, you can still clean it up with ease.

Here are the control knobs:

“V” or Volume: Controls volume of drive side, with loads of output volume.
“C” or Clean: Controls volume of the clean preamp side; 12 o’clock is unity volume and past that is all boost!
“T”or Tone: Controls the treble response of the drive side.
“F” or Fat: Controls the amount of bass entering the drive side.
“D” or Drive: Controls the gain of the drive side.

The 3-way toggle selects the voicing of the drive side. All 3 are very distinct and fiery, injecting different levels of intensity into your tone. All of these options make for a well-rounded and versatile drive machine, one that ranges with ease from boost to crunch to walls of distortion and more. We love some Stacks FX here at Pedal of the Day, and have been for almost as long as we’ve been around. Be sure to head to their website for more info on the pedals and the company, and snag one of these (and maybe an Acid Cat, too) for yourself. Check out our Full Demo below as well – cheers!
