Medor Amps Hurt Circuit FuzzWhen today’s pedal arrived on our doorstep all the way from Medor Amps in Australia, it was a beast to behold. Seriously, this thing is HUGE! We talk a lot about “Pedalboard friendly” here, and if there’s one thing the Hurt Circuit Fuzz is NOT, it’s that. However, once you plug it in and get to know how it works, you’ll throw that “size matters” theory right out the window. Wait….

Anyway, the Hurt Circuit was designed to give you glorious feedback and buzz saw oscillation in the studio or in a live setting, with two footswitches to allow access to two differing sounds. Channel One is controlled by two big knobs, one for output volume and one for fuzz amount, both oozing with range and setting ability, anything you need to get your rig sounding right. The fuzz itself is midrange-y, cutting and abrasive, with the Fuzz knob also acting as a kind of EQ blend control, instead of a typical Treble or Bass Cut/Boost option.

Click on the secondary footswitch and away we go! Here you use the Hz knob to control the feedback circuit, which acts like a second blended clean channel when turned all the way down. As you progressively turn it up, more feedback comes into play, producing glitchy oscillation and walls of buzzy, fuzzy sound. There’s a toggle switch here as well, for three distinct tonal modes: Down adds in some low end, Up is more corroded with note decay and Middle is a bit more biting and fierce.

Basically giving you two pedals in one, the Hurt Circuit is a monster effect that will possibly leave your ears bleeding and your band kicked out of the club you’re playing tonight. BUT….it’s full of raucous abandon and bone-chilling, heart-pumping fuzz, which is what we’re all looking for anyway, so who cares? With a ton of sustain and the ability to work well with the rest of your pedals, this is one outrageous fuzz pedal that’s sure to turn some heads. It’s also available in this big vintage box enclosure or in a smaller size, if real estate is an issue. Thanks to Julian and the Medor Amps crew (find them on Facebook) for letting us check out this monster – we really liked this guy, so stay tuned for more effects from these guys here in the near future.
